Dallas, Texas — Jason Kidd has been appointed as the 10th head coach in Dallas Mavericks history, the team announced on June 28, 2021. Kidd, who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018, boasts an impressive resume as both a player and coach.
The Mavericks, owned by Mark Cuban, are led by General Manager Nico Harrison. They have had nine head coaches prior to Kidd, who is set to bring his wealth of experience and success to the franchise.
Kidd, born March 23, 1973, is a former American professional basketball player. As a point guard, he played for the Phoenix Suns, New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, and New York Knicks. Kidd was known for his exceptional court vision, passing skills, and leadership.
Following his retirement as a player, Kidd ventured into coaching. He served as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets and was the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks from 2014 to 2018. Under Kidd's guidance, the Bucks reached the NBA playoffs in all four seasons.
